in the Promised Land Mission: A unique opportunity
to go behind the scenes of Israel’s vibrant
political, economic, and social life
This trip to Israel is guaranteed to be the
experience of a lifetime for supporters of Israel.
Of course you’ll visit the “must-see” sites—like
Masada, the Dead Sea, Nazareth, the Western Wall
on Shabbat, and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
But you’ll also visit the people of Sderot,
target of many Hamas rocket attacks; Haifa and
the Lebanese border; the Golan Heights; high-technology
entrepreneurial “incubators”; and
a controversial Zionist settlement in the Territories.
Plus you’ll meet personally with provocative
scholars, journalists and politicians and even
talk to a representative of the Palestinian Authority.
Best of all, you’ll be in Jerusalem for
the most joyous day of them all: Yom Ha’Atzmaut—Israel’s
60th Independence Day.
Travel with FLAME’s founder,
Gerardo Joffe, and other leaders
In 1938, under the threat of increasingly
violence against Jews in Germany,
19-year-old Gerardo Joffe and his family fled
Berlin to an uncertain future in South America.
In Bolivia, Gerardo learned mining engineering,
and soon thereafter moved to the United States,
where he earned his degree in mining. Gerardo
later turned entrepreneur, earned an MBA from
Harvard, and, in his third language, built
the highly successful American direct mail
business, Haverhills, which he later sold.
Simultaneous with running his business, Gerardo
started the non-profit educational organization,
FLAME—Facts and Logic About the Middle
East. Since 1989, FLAME’s mission has
been to publish hasbarah—clarifying messages
supporting the interests of Israel and the
United States in the Middle East. Supporters
of FLAME will be pleased that Gerardo Joffe,
a veteran visitor to Israel, will be accompanying
us on this historic mission.
In addition, you’ll be joined
in Israel by FLAME Directors Jim Sinkinson
and Michael Franzblau. Jim, a successful publisher,
has been on FLAME’s board of advisors
for 15 years. He manages the FLAME website
and publishes the FLAME Hotline online newsletter.
Dr. Michael Franzblau has also served on FLAME’s
board of advisors for more than a decade. In
addition to managing a successful medical practice,
Michael has also earned renown as the diligent
prosecutor of accused Nazi war criminal, Dr.
Hans Sewering. Jim Sinkinson has visited Israel
five times, and Michael Franzblau has visited
17 times—both welcome you to join us
on this mission.
